Schifrin to Finish Presidency at End of Academic Year

At this past summer’s annual Convocation of the North American Lutheran Church, the Rev. Dr. Amy Schifrin announced her resignation from the post of seminary president and her transition to full-time faculty at the North American Lutheran Seminary. She will finish out the academic year of 2018 to 2019 as president while the search for a new president is underway. Dr. M. Roy Schwarz, chair of the seminary’s Board of Regents, said, “After five years of distinguished leadership of the seminary, [Schifrin] decided that she could not be a full-time president and full-time faculty at the same time,” which is a position she was filling since 2014. “We would like [our next] president to spend the majority of his or her time on administration, on running the seminary and recruiting and raising money,” Schwarz said. “We will certainly not be able to find another Amy, but I think we’ll be lead to the person God thinks is best for the seminary.”
